PHP Website Threat

You may have heard in the press recently (22 Oct 26) that there has been a significant threat to websites due to long-standing, and before now, unknown loophole in the PHP language used in certain websites including Wikipedia, Wordpress and other heavily used websites.

So, what is PHP? If you are not familiar with website design it is unlikely you have heard of PHP. Essentially, it stand for Hypertext Preprocessor, it powers a vast number of websites and unknowingly you probably interact with it every day.

The flaw was discovered by AI (not all bad is it?) and allows attackers to take control of your site and access your personal information and sensitive data.

Now the good news… our website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace uses ‘languages’ like HTML5, CSS, Javascript rather than server-rendered PHP, so your data (not that we keep much) is safe and sound, therefore no need to take our website down.

If things change I’ll let you know.
