Flt Lt John Ward
Sgt (later Flt Lt) John Malcolm Ward
John Ward was a really supportive member of the Sqn Association. Although he did not spend a great deal of time serving on the Sqn he was well liked and always enjoyed his time at 30 Sqn reunions in particular.
John joined the RAF on 6 June 1961 as an Instrument (General) Mechanic, but decided to become aircrew in 1963 and trained as an Air Quartermaster (AQM). He served on No. 53, 47, 84 and 30 Sqns. He served with 30 Sqn in Kenya and Bahrain on the Blackburn Beverley.
Commissioned in 1971, John became an Air Traffic Controller, and later an Area Radar Controller.
